Ciudad Abierta  (Open City)

Ritoque, Chile, 2001 - 2007

Founded in the early 1970’s by faculty from the School of Architecture of the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Ciudad Abierta unfolds over the dunes, ravines and plateaus of 700 acres facing the Pacific Ocean in Ritoque, Chile. Built by students and faculty, its architecture is the result of a distinct application of theory, craftsmanship and interdisciplinary collaboration. Continually evolving, Ciudad Abierta is the materialization of an alternative educational model and a unique contribution to contemporary South American Architecture.
